Happy New Year, I hope that your holidays were as pleasant as mine were. I welcome Dr. Indira Sahiwal as Mid-
Peninsula Dental Society President for 2012 and her Board, Eric Chu, Fella Benyammi, Lee Panec, Erlyn
Hernandez, Ken Schweifler, Trustee , Bert Rouleau and welcome to our new Members-at-Large, Kristian
Lundgren-Koszeghy, Don Whitebread, Kathleen Tavarez, and Neal Smith.

The CDA House of Delegates on November 11-13th showed the best of what can be done when professionals
from across the state met to respond to the needs of the profession, public, and our members. Over two
hundred representatives from every dental society in California met in Sacramento for three days to set policy
for CDA. Your Delegates, Eric Chu, Indira Sahiwal, Fella Benyammi and Lee Panec and Trustee, Bert Rouleau
spent a lot of time and effort to become informed on all of the issues so that they could effectively vote on your
behalf. The house made key decisions about new work, new policy, and improvements to a variety of activities
influencing dentists across the state. A summary of the house actions is now available online at CDA.org.
Infection Control/ Dental Practice Act-Staff Appreciation Day-Mark your calendars, January 20th at the Crowne
Plaza Cabana Hotel for OSHA/DENTAL PRACTICE ACT / INFECTION CONTROL CE meeting. Come and fulfill your
requirements and earn 4 CE credits from 8:00-12:30 on Friday January 20, 2012..
February-Give Kids a Smile-it is that time of year-Once again our Society will be conducting school classroom
oral health screening and presentations. All you need to do is donate a few hours to provide dental instruction
and education to some of the classes in the communities that the Mid-Peninsula Society serves. Thank you for
your generosity in advance.
The days/times teachers are interested in are:
2/3 @ 8:30am, 9, 9:30, 10, 11, 11:15 and 12:45
2/6 @ 8:30am, 9, 9:30, 10, 11, and 11:15
2/7 @ 10:30, and 10:20-11
2/8 @9, 10:30, and 11:10-12:20
2/10 @9, 9:30, 11:15 and 12:45

Services Chair position, please let us make this an all society effort and help Christian out. Thank you for your

Pre-Paid Coupons-Pre-paid coupons are being mailed in February. Once again the society will be sending
members pre-paid coupons for use at the eligible C.E. meetings. The price of the coupons are included in your
2012 membership dues.
Committees’s-There are open positions for some of our committees. Peer Review, and Community Services
are among some of the committees that could use your help. Working on a committee can be very rewarding
you and the community. Please contact the society office if you are interested involved with you dental society.
